Just a Test

Ranma's pencil stood poised over the paper. The rest of the class was moving on with the test, but he was stuck on one question, indecision reigning in his mind. "This is stupid," he thought to himself, still wavering, "just fill in the bubble, no harm done."

But it would be a lie, one small part of his mind answered. You've always been trustworthy, part of being a real man like your mother wanted.

"It ain't my fault!" he argued silently back. "I swear that little old lady specifically waits until I pass under her to toss out her cold water."

The voice was persistent. It doesn't matter that it's not your fault; it would still be a lie.

"But I couldn't find any hot water before class started! I really am a guy, even if I happen to be in a girl's body at the moment."

That's not the question. These standardized tests are very specific. It asked for your sex, nothing else.

"But, but…" Ranma could almost feel that little part of his mind giving him a stern look. Sighing in defeat, he bubbled in the circle marked "Female" and moved on.
