The Z-Files

After a break to gather their nerves, Pam and Kim take on the latest Z-file,
Goten--Son, or clone?

Agent Pam:
If you've been keeping up with the latest episodes of DBZ, then-

Agent Kim:
*interrupting* Sure, rub it in that some of us don't have cable. *grumble*

Agent Pam:
Well if you'd actually go through with some of those money-making schemes of yours...

Agent Kim:
Last time I tried I got arrested by the Lithuanian police, remember?

Agent Pam:
Oh yeah. Well regardless, if you've been keeping up in DBZ, or if, like some people, *points to herself and Kim* you skipped that whole "waiting" thing and looked up summaries/translations on-line, then you've most likely seen or heard about Goten, Goku's second son.

Agent Kim:
After seeing the following picture, a sharp-eyed informant to the Z-Files brought up a very good point:

Why does Goten look exactly like Goku? Is he perhaps... a CLONE? *dramatic music plays*

Agent Pam:
We her- *dramatic music reaches a climax* ...Kim-chan........

Agent Kim:
Heh. Sorry. *pushes 'Stop' on the tape player. Dramatic music abruptly cuts off*

Agent Pam:
We here at the Z-Files put our lives on the line to discover whether this was actually the case.

Agent Kim:
And if by 'put our lives on the line,' you mean 'stayed as far away as possible and ran like cowards at the first sign of danger,' then you're absolutely right, Pam-chan.

Agent Pam:
*nods seriously* Exactly what I meant. We started out by checking out the hospital records on Goten's supposed "birth."

Agent Kim:
To our amazement, there weren't any! *dramatic music plays*

Agent Pam:
Would you cut that out?!

Agent Kim:
*sheepishly pushes stop*

Agent Pam:
Right. After doing a little more digging...

Agent Kim:
Translation: After breaking into a few more offices and rifling through highly confidential patient files.

Agent Pam:
We did find the birth records for one Son Gohan, but no mention anywhere of a brother, Goten.

Agent Kim:
That clinched it. We knew he had to be... a CLONE! *dramatic musi---* ...huh? Why'd it stop?

Agent Pam:
*hiding the batteries from the tape player behind her back* No clue. Maybe you broke it. Anyway, our suspicion had been confirmed. Now all we needed was to get the story right from the source.

Agent Kim:
Gathering our courage, we decided... to talk to Chichi..... *waits* .... ... Oh yeah, tape player's busted.

Agent Pam:
Ugh. *sweatdrops*

Agent Kim:
So, we after talking to Chichi, we made another startling discovery.

Agent Pam:
We both like to jump to conclusions really quickly and in reality are flippin' idiots.

Agent Kim:
Uh-huh. She explained the whole thing to us. See, for Goten she went into labor before Gohan and her father could get her to the hospital. She ended up having him on the living room floor, so naturally there wouldn't be any records of his birth at the local hospital.

Agent Pam:
Hmph. And you thought those cloning tanks with all the little teeny Gokus, Gohans, Piccolos, and Vegetas we saw through the basement window were suspicious.

Agent Kim:
Yeah, well, everyone makes mistakes.

Narrator:
So ends yet another Z-file. Tune in next time when we answer the deep, meaningful question that will most likely forever change your life: Why the crud do they all wear wristbands?

Do you have a mystery of the DBZ universe you want solved? Tell Pam about it, and it may just become a Z-file!
